The show was awesome! For 2 hours, and and his long time band members (Jim West, Steve Jay, Reuben Valtierra, and John Schwartz) played a knockout fun
show covering from the title album to Mandatory Fun and all in between. Complete with costume changes and video clips, it's a show not to be missed!

STILL A BANGIN' SHOW!
Weird Al busted it out again, another amazing show. His energy was top notch, full costume
changes all throughout, and a special lounge version of some very classic Al fav's. Did not
disappoint, except that it was only 2 hours long instead of like... 4 or 5 hours long! Always a
great time at the Mandatory Fun tour.

WEIRD AL AT THE WILBUR
This was an excellent show. Weird Al, his band, his awesome songs, minus all the usual costumes and props and video screens and dancers. I went to one of those previous shows with costumes etc., and awesome as it was, it sometimes felt like Weird Al was acting out a caricature of himself. Not so this show: he was sitting on the stool, singing like crazy. My only (minor) complaint is about the balance: the drums and, to a lessor extent, the bass were enough too loud to make it a bit hard to hear all the lyrics clearly.

"WEIRD" AL YANKOVIC IS A MUST SEE
Absolutely stunning show. Imagine Zappa-esque arrangements, yet with better, or at least more accessible songs. 2nd row seat were so worth it: band is still strong, 3 female backup singers are excellent, and I was blown away by just how good of a singer he is (talk about range..). Oh, and the 41-piece orchestra backing him. A once-in-a lifetime experience, musically and emotionally.

EMO PHILLIPS AND WEIRD AL
I thoroughly enjoyed the event. Even the blair claws mishap. Would love to get the keyboard solo for Melanie on tape :)

WEIRD AL GETS BETTER WITH AGE!
Saw him in Greenville last year. I wasn't super excited about the Vanity tour returning, but I think the song choices he had for this tour was better than the last. More of his better-known original songs.
I hope his next tour features more parodies, though, but he always puts on a great show! Family-friendly too! And, it showcases his band members' many talents. Emo Phillips was a perfect addition, too!

SOMETHING NEW FOR MOST CONCERT GOERS
Emo Phillips (the warm-up comedic act) said “I like this audience - you’re smart. If you don’t like something you won’t heckle but wonder why you didn’t find out more about what iou were buying tickets for …” It was obvious by the large amount of children and curly wigs in the audience that they hadn’t read the concert info. It plainly stated that there would be no parodies and that it was mostly all original songs by the band. Very talents musicians. Al has a great singing voice. I didn’t know any songs but was happy to be there experiencing the “weirdness”.

INTERESTING
I didn’t know when I paid $400 for tickets that he was not going to play popular tunes…so that would have influenced my decision as my kids really like the pop tracks. So going in I didn’t know what to expect. The opening act guy was creepy/ sad, not my cup of tea. Weird Al’s group though have talents and can really play a wide range of music. We stayed a little more than half the concert as my daughter fell asleep. Though I didn’t know the songs it was still entertaining and the acoustics were solid. Wonder what I missed….

NOT BAD
I went in not knowing what to expect, but thought he would do all his funny parody songs. He didn’t do any songs I knew, he basically was just performing with his band. He’s a talented singer, but I was there to see what made him famous. I thought the opener Emo was terrible, but he got a standing ovation, so maybe I was the only one that wasn’t a fan

NEEDS IMPROVEMENT
I was in high school when the parodies of songs became popular. They were iconic. These songs at the concert were played in short clips at the finally but I would have enjoyed a mix in of what songs made him a legend. It was disappointing. I wish Al could have felt the energy of the crowd change from disappointment to excitement at his finally. Perhaps he would change things up. At the 3 song in , I wondered if I made a mistake going to this concert.
The songs chosen were probably picked because of his most dedicated fans. But most were songs I never heard. I understood many word but some I could Not. The concert was lacking energy and made me wonder if the stars had health problems. The band all sat throughout the concert. The audience didn’t seem to enthusiastic but one lady in front of me seemed to be a huge fan. She danced around…
I feel there should have been more video imagery to help entertain the crowd. The stage wasn’t not set to impress but just set to the minimum. The flashing lights were annoying… perhaps the band wanted to see the audience. The concert would improve greatly with more video techno and staging crew.
Weird Al didn’t wear a Hawaiian style shirt that he’s known for and the audience would have felt more connected to him if he did. Some of the audience wore Hawaiian shirts and past concert shirts. Some people tried to be look alikes.
I have to admit I did like and was entertained by 3 of the songs I have never heard before. I was impressed also by his talent. He is talented in fast lyrical music and plays a variety of styles.
The warm up comedian was low sad energy . No theatrics. He was funny though. Not what I’d expect for a show you’d think would have pizzazz…
I’d say definitely go if you’re a big fan. Lower your expectations if you’re not.

DISAPPOINTED
I was so excited to see Weird Al. The band and orchestra were so loud and the acoustics so bad that I couldn't understand most of the words. When a singer is doing parodies you need be able to make out the words. Don't these musical experts know how to put on a show properly? I feel ripped off!

THIRD TIME....NOT ALWAYS A CHARM
For weeks I told my friends I was going to see Weird Al once again. My two previous encounters at Weird Al shows were two of my favorites. The show in Nashville at the historic Ryman Auditorium was a big disappointment. You go to a show like Weird Al's because you want some fun...some mindless entertainment. The show I saw was dark, so loud it was hard to hear the words, and missed on the best, most fun songs of his career. I will always admire his talent and energy, but last night's show just wasn't fun.

WEIRD AL: NOT WHAT WE EXPECTED :OCT2022 AUSTIN MOODY THEATER:
We left the show last night very disappointed. We saw Weird Al's show at Bass Concert Hall a few years ago and it was easily the funniest show we have ever been to. This show made me thankful that it did not go longer. His parodies are what made him famous, but he mostly ignored then as he wanted to highlight his original works. While some of the lyrics from his original works are clever, the music was just average. What makes his parodies so entertaining is that he writes very clever lyrics on top of popular music...and most of the music he performed last night will never be on anyone's playlist because there is so much out there that is better listening.
As far as the Moody Theater, there is not a bad seat in the house. Acoustics and sightlines are good. Concessions are basically limited to drinks as the Taco Deli vendor ran out of tacos 40 minutes prior to showtime, so eat before you go.

SETLIST LETDOWN
My 13 year old son is as big a Weird Al fan as you'll ever find. When he got tickets to finally see him for the first time, he was beyond psyched! He could not wait for it!! However, once we made it to the show and as Weird Al went through his set, my son became more and more disappointed. He does like Weird Al's deep cuts and knows all of them, but his favorites (like almost everybody) are the classics. Well, nearly $400 and one super bummed out kid later, we got absolutely none! Not one classic, not one hit, then a blue ride home back to Indianapolis...
I gave 2 stars because his band is awesome.

AUGUSTA'S WORST CONCERT EVER
I love Weird Al, and his concert in Columbia,
SC back in 2016 was one of the best shows I
have ever been to; but the Augusta show was
terrible. Horrible song choices. Horrible VIP
experience. Horrible theater. Emo Phillips
was awesome, though- the only part of the
show I enjoyed. He covered "Peaches" by the
Presidents of the United States of America,
which is probably one of the worst songs to
ever be sung and proof that in the 90's you
didn't have to have talent to have a hit song.
Hopefully his next tour will be better. He can
put on some awesome shows, but this wasn't
one.

OVER LOUD, UNDER FUNNY
My family of three went to our first
Weird Al concert, having been
enjoyably exposed to his CDs for
years. This concert was painfully loud,
difficult to understand and generally
excruciating. We stuck it out for two
songs with our fingers literally in our
ears, but when things were obviously
not getting any better, we left our
seats and went home, quite
disappointed.
We thoroughly enjoyed Emo Philips,
the warm-up act, however. The
theatre was picturesque, as usual. No
complaints about the venue.

WORST CONCERT I’VE EVER ATTENDED
Weird Al played a 2 hour set of original songs polka style. His encore was a medley of a few of his hits but they played them polka style. The audience was so still you could hear a pin drop. I feel like he flipped us off, for the amount of money we paid. I still can’t believe people were applauding at the end of the songs. I believe they were afraid of being rude. No one should go to this tour expecting to see classic Weird Al.

NOT WHAT WE WERE EXPECTING
I would've given a "0" star if that was an option.
We saw Weird Al several years ago in Nashville, and he was GREAT! He was running up and down the rows, he had on silly outfits, sang his parody songs, it was funny, etc. It was a great show. The show we saw on Friday, August 19, 2022, was a severe disappointment. We brought our 16 year old daughter and her boyfriend. We told them it was going to be some good clean fun and lots of laughs. What the show ended up being was a hard rock and roll band with screaming lyrics that you couldn't understand. The couple in front of us walked out after song 2, and we walked out after song 4. As we were walking to our car, there were 3 other families that had walked out of his show as well.
The show was terrible. It was a waste of $400.00. And I wish we never went. I would've rather kept my previous memory of the Nashville show.

NOT WHAT YOU EXPECT FROM WIERD AL
The first half was a comic that was just ok. We didn't go to a concert to listen to a comic. Wierd al did not play any of his hits. In fact he flat out said that people said they wanted the famous songs but he wasn't going to do that. We tried to stay to the end but gave up. Save your money and just download your favorite songs. Big disappointment. We took our son and his friend who were really excited, but left extremely disappointed.

SNOOZEFEST
I was hoping for a lot of laughs but that did not happen. Every song sounded the same and I fell asleep through part of the show. I enjoyed the opener, Emo. The show was not what I expected but I could tell some of the audience was enjoying it, so maybe it wasn’t my cup of tea.
